Businesses should expect to see significant advancements to Enterprise resource planning tools in 2015, due to cloud and mobile trends impacting IT. A Panorama Consulting report recently detailed the top predictions for the ERP market this year.
The report indicates that mobile and business intelligence solutions will gain traction in 2015 as companies begin to realize the benefits they bring to ERP solutions. Business leaders, in particular, will begin to rely more on ERP suites' robust reporting capabilities to gain insight on core business operations. This information can be leveraged to make strategic business decisions and gain market share.
ERP solutions such as Microsoft Dynamics GP works with cloud-based productivity tools such as Office365 to connect people, processes, and systems all from one place. This enables employees to easily collaborate with each other, access important data, and use the tools needed to stay productive - from anywhere at any time.
ERP referred to as the 'transactional backbone' of business
In 2014, Computer Economics discovered 13 percent of small businesses were investing in ERP solutions, while even higher percentages - 40 percent and 43 percent - of mid-sized companies and large firms were doing so, respectively, as reported by IT Jungle.
In an interview with IT Jungle, Computer Economics Analyst Frank Scavo said businesses are purchasing ERP systems because these tools are the "transactional backbone" of many operations.
"If, for instance, a company wants to deploy mobile applications, generally they want to provide that for base transaction processing whether it is expense reporting, inventory, sales orders, or whatever it might be. They need a solid ERP system underneath," Scavo told the news source.
