Windows Server 2003 end-of-life isn't the only thing on Microsoft's plate at the moment. The company is also currently undergoing a company-wide re-organization aimed at strengthening current offerings and emphasizing innovation, according to an employee memo obtained by The Verge. In the memo, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced June 17 that the company would be moving the management of its customer relations management solution, Dynamics CRM, under the Cloud and Enterprise division, under current division leader Scott Guthrie.
How with the move impact organizations?
Right now, Dynamics CRM Online is part of Microsoft's Commercial Cloud businesses, according to ZDNet, but there is a possibility that in the future Microsoft will move Dynamics CRM Online to its cloud platform, Azure. Hence the move to the Cloud and Enterprise division. In the employee memo, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stressed that the transition will be beneficial for the company and its customers because it will allow for better innovation and collaboration.
"We are also moving the development teams who build our Dynamics products to [Cloud and Enterprise], which will enable us to accelerate our ERP and CRM work even further and mainstream them as part of our core engineering and innovation efforts," Nadella said. "[Cloud and Enterprise] will work closely with ASG to ensure the end-to-end experience is cohesive across communications, collaboration and business processes."
Customers will continue to see benefits
The company-wide re-organization will be beneficial for customers, who will continue to get service and the fast, flexible and affordable product they've been using. According to Nadella, moving the CRM solution to the Cloud and Enterprise division will help Microsoft deliver better products and services to customers more quickly, drive new company growth and create a more personal computing environment for customers across the board. Benefits of Dynamics CRM that customers already enjoy, like increased flexibility, better reporting and lead tracking, will be strengthened with this change in leadership due to better allocation of resources and room to grow.
