Based in South Bend, Indiana, Schurz Communications, Inc. is a diversified privately-owned, nationwide communication company with premier properties that are among the most valued and trusted in the news and information industry. They have six business segments which consist of Broadcasting Radio, Broadcasting TV, Cable TV, Newspaper Publishing, Shoppers and Commercial Printing. Geographically, Schurz Communications has a presence in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Missouri, Georgia, and Virginia.

It all began in 1872 when Alfred B. Miller and Elmer Crockett founded the South Bend Tribune. The Tribune is still the flag-ship property and family members have held editor and publisher positions at the newspaper for five generations. Schurz Communications’ newspapers have a long tradition of editorial excellence, technical innovation, and a commitment to the highest standards for quality and excellence in journalism.

The company emerged as a broadcast pioneer in 1922 with the launching of WGAZ radio (now WSBT) in South Bend. WSBT television began broadcasting in 1952.

SCI has selected The Pinnacle Group to implement an Enterprise-Wide Financial Reporting System grounded upon the Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains product line.

The desire to consolidate financial reporting of their 19 Divisions located from California to Maryland led Schurz to select Pinnacle and Great Plains.
